Details

The Corporate Education Specialist is a professional, registered nurse (RN) responsible for the educational activities of the organization. The Corporate Education Specialist has accountabilities for the monitoring, implementation, and evaluation of processes and programs to meet regulatory, accreditation, and standards of practice. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the training and continued development of all new Directors of Nursing (DON’s).  Additional support and guidance to the Director of Intake, ADON’s, Directors of C.N.A. services in the organization.

  • Ensures that there are processes in place to educate new DON’s, ADON’s, Directors of C.N.A.’s on role and responsibilities.
  • Provides direction and coordination of orientation to MatrixCare and CHAPS utilizing continuous quality improvement principles and methodologies.
  • Provides education in the following areas: patient care, safety, risk management, infection control, outcomes, compliance, MatrixCare and customer satisfaction.
  • Works collaboratively with each office administrator and regional administrator to assure training meets the needs of Suncrest and the specific office. 
  • Establishes a process model for improvement and provides education and training to organization personnel on the QAPI plan, and team development.  

Responsible for planning, implementation and evaluation of continuing education programs for these positions.

  • Coordinates, educates and implements monthly in-service training related to best practice.
  • Coordinates 1:1 training for Directors with identified need for improvement.
  • Acts as resource to Directors in identifying safety and risk management issues for patients and staff. 
  • Assist in the identification of skills for annual competence and provides in-service training support.
  • Maintains current knowledge related to home care safety and infection control standards. 

Monitor organization compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

  • Maintains current knowledge related to Medicare Conditions of Participation and the Community Health Accreditation Program’s (CHAP) standards to ensure that the organization is compliant with state, federal and accreditation guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring policies and procedures reflect all related local, state, federal, and CHAP standards and makes recommendations for policy changes to the governing board.
  • Acts as a resource to Directors regarding standards, policies, regulations, and provides in-service training to leadership and staff as needed in these areas. 

Promote self-growth and collegial relationships with others in the home care industry.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal and professional networks and participates in professional organizations or societies.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical nursing experience. (An emphasis in home care/hospice nursing is preferred).
  • Excellent understanding of performance improvement, quality assessment, and utilization management.
  • Is self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Has excellent coordination and communication skills.
